I really liked this one. I think I may like her older books better than her newer stuff.
It starts with the heroine Alexandra getting kidnapped and tied to a bed all night. It turns out the kidnappers wanted to prevent a young woman from eloping. This stunningly bad plan was made worse by the kidnappers grabbing the wrong woman, Alexandra.
She receives a marriage proposal from the household to save her honor. Alexandra refuses for the simple reasons that she was actually the victim in the situation and she does not want to marry a stranger.
Eventually, Alexandra learns that one member of the household is a good man and she falls in love with him. But she has spurned his proposal already. He couldn’t fall in love with her now, could he?
This is fairly traditional Regency with less fluff and a little more heart than usual. It is part of a series and I plan to read all of them.
